In this 2 week class you will learn how to create simple .stl files using Blender (a free open source program), How to slice your 3D file in Cura, and then finally how to print it on the 3D printer. We will explore different materials such as .PLA, Glow in the Dark, NinjaFlex, and Wood.


Space is limited to 5 participants.


Each participant will also receive free one on one help with their personal project / homework for this class!


If you complete this course you will be certified to use the 3D printers at any time!


Week 1:


Time: Sunday, March 11th 3:00pm - 5:00 pm


Bring a laptop + a mouse with you! (If you don’t have a laptop we have some computers here that can be used.) The first week we will learn the basics of creating .stl files in Blender. Being able to create and easily edit your own .stl files will allow you to create anything your mind can imagine!






Outline:


- Introduction to Blender download @ https://www.blender.org/


- Creating and exporting .stl files


- Using CURA to slice your print.


- Start your personal design, ask questions, get help


Homework: Create your own 3D design to be printed. I will be available to help if you during the week if you need.


Week 2:


Time: Sunday, March 18th 3:00pm - 5:00 pm


We will go over 3 different types of materials that can be used in the PURSA I3 MK2 printers at the Mint. These are PLA, Glow in the Dark, Ninja Flex, and Wood. We will explore how to change the settings in CURA for these materials. We will go over support material, cleaning the bed, changing filament, and what to do if your print is not sticking to the bed.
