    WOODSHOP: END TABLE WITH DRAWER

    This class will cover some basic joinery techniques and will make a small end table with drawer and lower shelf. In this class we will discuss how to develop building plans from a photo, work on planning a cut list and then plan and cut pieces from the provided materials. This class will be a 4 week course with 3 hours of instruction and guided work time each week. All students will leave this course with an end table built out of pine.

    Class Dates: Tuesdays -  Feb 20, 27, March 5, & 12;  5p-8p

    Key Learning Points:

    • How to develop plans from a photo
    • Basic clamping techniques
    • Use of the table saw
    • Use of the Miter Saw
    • Use of the Planer and Jointer
    • Use of the Pocket Hole Jig
    • Use of the Router

    Think safety first: bring you own safety glasses if you desire. There will be some on-hand to borrow as well.

    Introduction to the MINT Woodshop

    Come on everybody; let's make some sawdust!

    Take a tour through the wood shop and learn how to use some of the more common woodworking tools. 

    In this class you will learn the safe way to:   

    • Cut with a compound miter saw (chopsaw)
    • Use our SawStop tablesaw
    • Use both the jointer and planer 
    • Use a variety handtools and measuring techniques

    Absolutely no experience is necessary! If you have any interest in woodworking this is the class for you. 

    Think safety first: bring you own safety glasses if you desire. There will be some on-hand to borrow as well.

    Introducing the X-Carve!!

    In this introductory lesson we will teach you how to:

    • Turn on the X-Carve
    • Import a file
    • Set up the machine  to carve your project
    • Use and application of the X-Carve in different scenarios
    • Bring home a small project!
    • Gain access to the shared X-Carve MINT calendar to reserve to use

    This session is for MINT members only, and is taking place on Wednesday, February 28  from 6PM to 8PM

    Butt Joint Basics

    In this, make and take class, we will cover two types of basic joinery and participants will take home a picture frame to fit an 8x10 print. We will discuss how these joints differ in strength as well as how and where we would use these joinery methods. These are basic joinery techniques that can be incorporated into cabinetry, table making and more. 

    Date: Monday, March 4, 5p-8p.

    In this class you will learn the safe way to:   

    • Cut with a compound miter saw (chopsaw)
    • Use our SawStop tablesaw
    • Use a router
    • Use a drill and doweling jig
    • Use a variety handtools and measuring techniques

    Think safety first: bring you own safety glasses if you desire. There will be some on-hand to borrow as well.

     Miter Joint Basics

    In this make and take class we will cover the basics of a miter joint and participants will take home a picture frame to fit an 8x10 print. In this course we will cover the basics of how to use the miter saw, table saw, and router, as well as a kreg pocket hole jig. We will discuss how different joints vary in strength as well as how and where we would use these joinery methods in a practical setting. These are basic joinery techniques that can be incorporated into cabinetry, tables and more.
