    Micromosaics: Jewelry and Beyond!

Our mosaic offerings are expanding! Jennifer returns to the instructor seat with this single 3-hour session exploring micromosaics!

Micromosaics are created from tiny fragments of glass, called tesserae. The tesserae are mosaic pieces made from an opaque vitreous glass or enamel in a multitude of colors called smalto. The smalto is pulled into rods or threads, called filati (spun enamel), and then left to cool.

Detail, patience, and a willingness to "drop in" are key. Fine hand skills and the use of tweezers are also essential for this type of art making.

Appropriate for all levels of experience.

By the end of this class, students will understand how to:

    • prepare a substrate
    • design your placement of tesserae
    • address minor points and imperfections
    • finalize your design

    Cost (includes materials)

    Members: $75

    Non-yet Members: $90

    Dates: Friday Oct 13th - 5pm to 8pm

    Instructor: Jennifer Judkins
