    MOSAIC TABLES

    Transform a tabletop into a work of art!

    In this introductory 4-session course, you’ll explore the art of creating mosaic tabletops. From selecting diverse substrates to mastering adhesive and grouting techniques, this class will equip you to craft a stunning outdoor table that stands up to Vermont weather. Bring your own table or choose from a selection available at The MINT.

    Course Objectives:

    • Understand how to choose a suitable table and substrate for outdoor use.
    • Plan and create a custom mosaic tabletop design.
    • Learn techniques to ensure a level, functional surface.
    • Master grouting and finishing techniques for durability and beauty.

    Fusing Fridays

    Join us for a hands-on journey into the art of glass fusing! This 4-week introductory, project-based class will explore the fundamentals of working with fusible glass. Each week, you'll complete a different project while building your skills and creativity in this exciting medium.

    • Glass Chemistry 101 – Understand the importance of COE (Coefficient of Expansion) and how it affects your designs.
    • Mastering the Kiln – Learn to safely operate a kiln and use firing schedules to create both flat and three-dimensional pieces.
    • Cut, Stack, and Fuse – Explore techniques for cutting, layering, and designing eye-catching glasswork.
    • Pro Tips for Success – Get insider knowledge to troubleshoot issues and perfect your craft.

    Intermediate: Stained Glass Orchid Flower Plant Stake

    Create your very own stunning orchid flower plant stake for indoor or outdoor use. In this intermediate stained glass class, combine the basics of stained glass with elevated soldering techniques to create 3D items. To take this class you MUST have stained glass experience (i.e. taken some beginner stained glass classes) and be comfortable cutting glass and using the soldering iron.

    In this class, students will learn to refine their existing skill set and be guided to a more advanced level of stained-glass work.

    What attendees need to bring: Please wear close-toed shoes. You may wish to bring gloves while handling/cutting glass. Eye safety wear is available in the shop.

    Melt & Make: Fused Glass Coaster Art

    In this two-session class, you’ll design and craft a custom artisan tile that will be transformed into a matching set of 4” fused glass coasters—perfect as a starting point for your own personalized tableware collection!

    What you’ll learn:

    • Glass preparation for fusing
    • How to use basic glass tools for glass cutting and pattern layering
    • Kiln overview, glass technology, and safety
    • Use of a glass saw

    On Day 1, you'll select a base color and design a coordinating pattern, cutting and assembling COE 90 sheet glass and scrap into a unique glass slab. After class, your slab will be full-fused in the kiln.

    On Day 2, you'll cut your fused slab into a cohesive coaster set, refining your design and preparing it for a final full fuse. Coasters will be ready for pickup the following week.
