Have a question about what's possible in a shop? Need a refresher on how to use a piece of equipment? Want to demonstrate your skills to use the stained glass, electronics, or textile lab?

Maker Monday is the place for you. On the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Monday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30pm shop leads will be on hand to help you make the most of The MINT.

Note: Some shops require registration for an initial instructor-led full tool training. Visit the calendar to sign up.

The Joy of Letterpress: Basics I

Join us for a short demonstration and an introduction to Letterpress equipment!

This class repeats on the first Wednesday of every month, 6pm to 8pm.

Learners in this class will leave knowing how to:

    • "Lock up a chase" - Composing the printing elements (type, blocks, furniture) into a printable configuration, ready to load into the press
    • "Set up a job" - Specifying and preparations for a printing run including paper selection and cutting, imagery, ink color and press adjustments

This beginner class will get your foot in the door of the Letterpress shop. In order to work independently in Letterpress you will need both Foundation courses: Basics 1 and Basics 2 (held on the second Tuesday of every month).

In this class things could get a little bit messy. Dress appropriately and please don't forget your mask, regardless of vaccination status.
