  Letterpress for Beginners

  Join us for a short demonstration and an introduction to Letterpress equipment!

  This class repeats on the first Wednesday of every month

  5:30pm to 7pm.

  Class participants will leave knowing how to:

  • "Lock up a chase" - Composing the printing elements (type, blocks, furniture) into a printable configuration, ready to load into the press
  • "Set up a job" - Specifying and preparations for a printing run including paper selection and cutting, imagery, ink color and press adjustments

  This beginner class will get your foot in the door of the Letterpress shop. In order to work independently in Letterpress you will need this foundational course.

  In this class things could get a little bit messy, please dress appropriately.

  How To Make Custom Printing Blocks

  In this class we will learn several different methods for creating printing blocks from your own designs. This will include carving, using found objects, laser engraving and photopolymer. During this class we will also design a block and laser engrave it to demonstrate the process.

  Attendees will learn:

  -A variety of methods to create printing blocks

  -Parameters for successful printing

  -How to help design and laser engrave a printing block

  Multi-Color Letterpress Printing

  Join us for this 2 hour workshop and learn principles, techniques, and processes for printing with more than one color. 

  Students will learn:

  • Printing block designs
  • registration
  • ink qualities

  Wet on dry process will be discussed.  We will do some hands on printing of a 2-color project.

  There are not pre-requisites for this class. *This class does not include Letterpress Orientation, and does not provide authorization for independent printing in the Letterpress shop.*
