Silverware Earrings or Pendant

In this 2-hour workshop, participants will make a pair of earrings or a pendant from vintage silver-plated forks and spoons. The process will include cutting silverware, grinding and softening edges, cleaning, drilling holes, sanding, and wax sealing. Participants will then finish their projects by adding complementary beads, forming twisted loops in wire, and attaching ear hooks and/or jump rings. Silver plated flatware will be supplied, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they’d like to complete more than one project. Silver or silver-plated flatware only please!

Students will learn:

  • Safely use cut off wheel, bench grinder, and power drill
  • Forming, sanding, cleaning and sealing components
  • Choosing embellishments and light wire work

Participants should bring:

SAFETY Cutting metal results in flying fragments.
  • N95 mask, or another mask.
  • Gloves that allow nimble fingers (optional)
  • Safety Glasses (We have loaners)
  • Creativity and inspiration

Fees:

  • $75 for members
  • $100 for not-yet members*
