Torch Fired Enameling: Introduction

In this popular 2-hour workshop, participants will complete a pair of enameled earrings. The process will include cutting a base copper shape, prepping it for enamel, applying enamel, and torch firing the piece using a mapp gas torch. Participants will finish the earrings by choosing complementary beads, forming twisted loops in wire, and attaching earring hooks. 

Saturday, February 17 11:30a-1:30p

    • Safety using enamel products and torches

    • Forming, sanding, cleaning, and prepping base metal

    • Understanding transparent and opaque enamels, 6/20 lump, mesh sizes

    • The importance of counter enameling

    • Simple wire wraps to complete earring pair

    • Using small hand tools – pliers, loop making, cutters

    Participants should be comfortable with the idea of holding and firing a torch. Long hair should be pulled back, and sleeves should be fitted not loose.

    Max capacity: 6

    This class is a prerequisite to Advanced Torch Fired Enameling

    Fees:

    $45 for members

    $60 for not-yet members 

    (Fee includes $15 materials)
