Woodshop: Introduction to the Lathe
Class Overview: This 3-hour Wood Lathe Orientation class is designed to introduce beginners to the essential skills and safety protocols needed to operate a wood lathe confidently and effectively. The class will cover foundational knowledge, the parts and functions of the lathe, essential safety practices, and basic turning techniques. By the end of the class, students will have a clear understanding of how to set up, operate, and maintain a lathe, preparing them for independent practice in the shop.
Class Objectives:
Understand the basic components and functions of a wood lathe.
Learn how to safely set up and operate the lathe.
Develop essential wood-turning skills such as shaping, sanding, and finishing.
Practice basic turning techniques to start building familiarity with the lathe.

Date: Monday, April 28th
Time: 5:30pm- 8:30pm

Materials Provided:
Wood for practice (how to prep your materials)
PPE (safety goggles, ear protection, dust masks)
Lathe tools and equipment for use during class
Prerequisites:
Woodshop orientation required (this could have been through a previous intro class).
This class is designed for beginners or those new to using a wood lathe.
