About the Class

Session #1
Learn how easy and fun it is to compose classic letterpress type on the vintage Ludlow Typograph. You'll set your own type! Maybe your name and address for personal stationery, or maybe a favorite saying or sentiment for art prints and cards. Choose from a large and growing variety of fonts and sizes that you can use to print your own letterpress projects!

Tips for type design and spacing

Session #2

Printing Personal Stationery Session

Learn to print your own one color letterpress postcards or personal stationery on vintage presses, using the Ludlow type you set in Session 1. You can also choose to use unique antique artwork and decorative blocks.

We'll guide you in how to “chase up” your type and printing blocks so they're ready for the press, and you will print your design on one of our presses.

What you'll experience:
How to assemble your design so it's press-ready
Operating a table top press
Participants will keep their printed pieces
