    Pottery Shop Orientation

    Instructors: Savannah

    New to the Mint and are excited for the pottery studio? This class is for you! Learn how to get comfortable in the space so that you can conquer any project with confidence!

    This is an orientation class, please do not plan on making an item to take home with you. This class is required in order to use the pottery studio independently. 

    What You’ll Learn:

    • Intro to the studio space
    • How to set up a pottery wheel to throw
    • Where work should be placed to be fired
    • Cleaning procedures and expectations
    • Where tools belong
    • Reclaim location
    • Glaze guidelines
    • Types of clay and glaze allowed
    • How to use the slab roller
    • How to use the extruder

    Intro to the Wheel Bootcamp

    Instructors: Savannah

    New to the wheel or need a refresher? This class is perfect for pottery beginners looking to learn a new skill and create something beautiful! This class will give you all the basic skills needed to get started in the clay studio.

    What You’ll Learn:

    • Working with the Wheel: Get familiar with the potter's wheel.
    • Centering Clay: Learn the essential technique of centering your clay.
    • Throwing a Basic Form: Shape your clay into a foundational form.
    • Trimming on the Wheel: Refine and clean up your piece.
    • Glazing: Add the finishing touch by glazing your pottery.New to the wheel, or just need a refresher? This class is for you! Learn how to center, throw, trim and glaze a simple form to get you started in the clay studio.

    Other Info:

    You will get messy! Please wear clothes you are happy getting dirty.

    This is a full day even with a 1 hour lunch break. Please be prepared with your own lunch, snacks, and water.

    Registration Fee:

    Mini Pie Dishes For Fall! Wheel Throwing Pottery Class

    Pretty as pie! What's better than a fresh apple pie? A fresh mini apple pie baked in a dish you made yourself! This beginner friendly wheel class is perfect for the fall season. Make yourself one or a set of the cutest dishes for all your seasonal treats.

    What you’ll learn:

    • Wheel throwing techniques 
    • Making a classic pie dish rim
    • Trimming
    • Underglaze decorating
    • Glazing techniques suitable for food-safe pottery

    Class Details:

    Dates: September 28th, October 5th and 12th

    Time: September 28th 9am - 12pm, October 5th 9am - 12pm, October 12th 9am - 11am 

    Cost: 

    Member: $150

    Non-Member: $175

    Safety: Close-toed shoes required. Clay and water can be messy, so appropriate clothing is recommended. You WILL get messy.

    Skill Level: Some wheel throwing experience recommended.
