Painting With Rae
Join Rae Newell for a 10 week exploration in oil and acrylic painting. Rae brings to The MINT decades of painting and art instruction and we are very excited to have her! This class is open to adults and is hosted in our Jr MINT room at 112 Quality Lane.
Students should bring their favorite brushes, paints, pallet, and canvas.
If you are looking for supplies, please check out The MINT's Creative Reuse Shop, reMake, at 72 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland or Kaleidoscope Arts on Center Street also in Downtown. Rae will also have items on hand for things that get left at home.

3D Pumpkin Sculptures
Intermediate Stained Glass Class
Join artist Laura Twarog for this Intermediate Level stained glass workshop to create one-of-a-kind 3D glass pumpkin sculptures. Perfect for fall décor!
This class will build upon current skills and introduce you to decorative soldering techniques to elevate your current stained glass projects and inspire new ways of creating with glass.
Students must already have experience with the fundamentals of stained glass: glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling, and soldering.

Coil pottery is often considered the most beginner-friendly method. You don’t need a wheel - just roll your clay into coils, layer them up, and shape them at your own pace.

Introduction to the MINT Woodshop: Create Your Own Wooden Spatula
Come on everybody—let's make some sawdust!
Take a tour through the woodshop and get hands-on experience with some of the most commonly used woodworking tools. This orientation is perfect for beginners and also fulfills the requirements to become independently certified to use the woodshop during member hours.
As part of the class, you’ll create your very own wooden spatula—a fun and approachable project that introduces you to the essential tools and techniques of woodworking.
In this class, you’ll master the safe operation of:
No prior experience is necessary! We’ll provide all the guidance and tools you need. Bring your own safety glasses if you prefer, or borrow a pair from us.
*Not-Yet Members may take this or any other class at The MINT. However, becoming a Member grants you independent access to our shops outside of class time after completing this orientation.
By the end of this class, you’ll have both a handcrafted wooden spatula and the skills needed to independently and safely use The MINT’s woodshop.
The Joy of Letterpress

Introduction to letterpress, and the joy of designing and printing wet ink on paper.
A hands on class to learn the process of letterpress printing. Attendees will be guided through the entire process of planning, preparing a chase with printing blocks, setting up a table top press, inking up a press, and making prints.
You will experience all the stages of creating a simple print, how to safely operate the printing equipment, and how to clean up.
No prerequisites, or material fees. Printing blocks, paper, and ink will be provided.
You will be able to keep any prints you create.
Spaces are limited! Reserve your spot and take your letterpress skills to the next level.
Stained Glass Ornaments
Come join us and celebrate the season by creating your own stained-glass holiday ornaments!
Using multiple colors and textured glass, arrange your pieces to create a unique ornament. Perfect for your own tree or to give as gifts.
This class focuses on skills and familiarity with the process. Students will leave with a small completed project.
In this single-session 4 hour class, you will:
- Choose complementary colors - Cut glass to a specific size and shape from a pattern - Apply foil to the glass for soldering - Solder the glass pieces together - Add hooks for hanging - Patina and polish to give it a finished look
